Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How much does a tattoo cost?
A. Prices vary depending on the artist’s rates, the design, size and detail of the requested piece.
Q. Does getting tattoos hurt?
A. Yes they do but, everyone has a different pain threshold, so the level of discomfort can vary from person-to-person. The pain is usually described as annoying or irritating. Please don’t compare the pain of getting a tattoo to that of getting a shot at the doctor’s office.
I’d rather get a tattoo!
Q. How old do I have to be to get a tattoo?
A. In the State of Illinois, you MUST BE 18 or older.
Q. Can I get a tattoo even if I have a medical condition?
A. Please consult with your physician about getting tattooed prior to requesting an appointment.
Q. Do you take walk-ins?
A. No I do not. You must book an appointment.
Q. Can I drink alcohol before my session?
A. NO! A few different reasons since you asked.
1. I will not tattoo a drunk client.
2. When you drink, alcohol thins your blood which causes excessive bleeding which not only makes it difficult for the artist, but can cause problems with ink absorption and the overall healing process.
Q. How long does it take tattoos to heal?
A. A majority of the healing takes place within the first 2 weeks after receiving a tattoo, however the skin is still working at healing and rejuvenating so plan on it being completely healed within 4-6 weeks.
Q. How should I properly prepare for my session?
A. Make sure you are well rested, well hydrated, and have eaten recently. Take a shower, charge your phone or tablet, bring headphones if you would like. Dress comfortably. Looser fitting clothes will be better than tight clothes. Depending on your tattoo, your session could be long. You want to make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Do not wear your Sunday’s best. There is always a risk of getting ink on your clothes. Also, be mindful of where you will be getting the tattoo and wear clothing that will make the area easily accessible.
